Last week, Selfridges’ holiday windows were unveiled in its Oxford Street flagship branch in London, giving them the dubious distinction of being the first department store in the world to do so this season. Too soon? I think so, but in typical Selfridges style they’ve set the bar pretty high for the windows that follow this season. This year they’ve brought back Santa and gave the traditional theme a Selfridges twist. Hannah Emslie, the head of creative presentation and visual merchandising, describes their “Shine On” windows as, “Alpine rave meets Palm Springs. We’ve had a lot of fun with fashion and retro features with a hint of America. We hope it will being a smile to shoppers’ faces.”

I hope for the sake of their staff they wait until after Halloween to begin piping holiday music through the store.
