BeautyMatter had the opportunity to attend FounderMade’s insightful November 2017 Consumer Discovery Show. Our glimpse into the event touched on the palpable energy of the amalgamating beauty and wellness industries that permeated the Spring Studios venue. As we navigated through the healthy food, beverage, skincare, clothes, tech, and makeup brand exhibits, five companies intrigued us. We had to know more:

Prtty Peaushun (pronounced Pretty Potion): Brain child of celebrity makeup artist Bethany Karlyn, this whole-body lotion is a staple among the prtty people–Rihanna, Freida Pinto, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Upton, and Serena Williams, to name a few. Created in Karlyn’s kitchen, the cruelty-free, nontoxic magic potion contains avocado, pomelo, and jojoba moisturizers and works wonders at concealing skin imperfections. One part firming lotion, one part luxe body (and hair) oil, the luminous emollient flatters all skin tones and types and keeps Mother Earth in mind with its minimalistic, carbon-conscious packaging design.

Kalumi Health: Designed by models and consumed by models (and the general public, too), Kalumi’s gluten-free, non-GMO, non-dairy, and soy-free protein bars are the delicious manifestation of the wellness trend beauty from the inside out. Each beauty bar is fortified with peptides, marine collagen, sweet potatoes, and fair-trade Peruvian yacón syrup to make hair, nails, and skin glow from within.

Prismologie: Founded by mother-daughter duo from the Royal Family of Kuwait–Sheikha Intisar Al-Sabah and Sheikha Fatima Al-Sabah– this body-care line aims to harness the transformative power of colors. Centered around six hues (White, Yellow, Pink, Green, Red, and Indigo), the products are formulated with real gemstones and intricate fragrances to enrich both skin and spirit. The duo worked closely with scientists and master perfumers to reveal each color’s depth, and the result is a multi-sensorial product range that taps into the gemstone beauty market.

Lion Tea: The Brooklyn-based botanical beverage company harnesses the ancient and curative powers of the dandelion–or as they call it, The Lawn Doctor. Refreshing and slightly bitter, their prebiotic lion teas are tasty, use the entire dandelion, and are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, riboflavin, and fiber. And if the tantalizing healthful taste of their botanical tonics isn’t enough, the dandelions Lion Tea utilizes aid in feeding bees post-hibernation. Great for both human body and pollinator body, Lion Tea is doing something right.

Charlotte’s Web by the Stanley Brothers: CW Hemp is a family-owned eco-conscious Colorado-based company inspired by nature, backed by science, and dedicated to quality. They are the cultivating wizards of the famous Charlotte’s Web hemp extract and have a range of non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD) products. From capsules, to creams, to oils, CW Hemp is devoted to safely sharing the therapeutic effects associated with the chemical compound, CBD. From their farms to our bodies, CW Hemp’s hands-on approach and emphasis on a happy value chain will ensure their success in the health and wellness market.
