Apple predicted self-care as one of its top four breakout trends for 2017, and on that they were spot on. As wellness becomes mainstream, mindfulness and meditation apps are booming.
- The top 10 grossing self-care apps in the US earned $15 million in combined iOS and Android revenue, and $27 million in worldwide revenue.
- The top 10 wellness apps made about 170% more revenue worldwide in Q1 2018 than the top 10 wellness apps did in Q1 2017 across both the App Store and Google Play. In the US, they made about 167% more.
- Combined revenue of mindfulness and meditation apps Calm and Headspace represented 90% of the top 10 apps’ total revenue last quarter.
