Hong Kong would appear to be ready-made for Sephora success, but that was not the case the first time around. The retailer opened its first Hong Kong outpost in Mong Kok in 2008 but pulled out of the market just two years later.

After a 10-year absence Sephora is relaunching in Hong Kong with a 4,200-sq. ft. store in IFC Mall and a second store at Windsor House in Causeway Bay in the fourth quarter of this year, and expanding its online offer. The retailer will roll out six more stores the next three years but the locations as yet have not been announced.

In a statement, Benjamin Vuchot, president of Sephora Asia, said the company currently operates in 12 countries, and during the next three years sees its retail presence expanding by almost 50 per cent across Asia.
