VLADA’S MITTY POUT: A NEW KIND OF BEAUTY ACCESSORY

Mitty Pout

Sometimes you just have to ask.

Vlada’s Mitty Pout for Take My Face Off isn’t the brainchild of a marketing department, and it wasn’t planned seasons in advance. No algorithms were used to decide colors, styles, or packaging artwork. Take Your Face Off founder Amanda McIntosh simply got up the nerve to approach the brand’s favorite makeup artist Vlada Haggerty. That’s right, “the” Vlada whose work has spawned imitators and surpassed the realm of influencer to artist, with deals across product categories to the art and literary world.

Vlada’s Mitty Pout is an alternative to cotton balls, wipes, and all the other cleansing aids that fill our waste bins. It’s softer, it’s prettier, it works better, and it’s a whole lot more eco-friendlier than anything else the brand was able to find on the market. Red polyester plush isn’t exactly what comes to mind when you think of being “green,” but this blows even compostable wipes and organic cotton pads out of the water from a sustainability standpoint.

Vlada spoke to BeautyMatter about Mitty Pout: “I’m so happy and proud I can be a part of this launch. Vlada’s Mitty Pout might be small, but it has a mighty cause behind it. Makeup wipes and cotton rounds are so bad for the environment! I used to use them, but after learning more about the impact they have on the planet, marine life, and bee population, it was a no-brainier for me to switch. Plus, the Pout is made out of the softest material and is extremely gentle on the skin. Just make sure you use your favorite makeup remover just like you would with a cotton round.”

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Initiative, and to Pollinator Partnership, an organization dedicated to protecting pollinators and their habitats. The Pout itself is sewn in downtown Los Angeles, blocks from the fabric warehouse, one town away from the fulfillment center, and one county away from the printer.

Take My Face Off take their mantra seriously. You deserve better. So does the planet.
