As New York City enters Phase 2, salons, spas, and on-demand beauty companies are back in business. While many salons have amassed waiting lists of clients, there will be a segment of consumers that feel it is still too soon. Based on the coronavirus-related demand, Glamsquad has expanded its service menu to include in-home haircuts, allowing consumers to feel in control of the experience.

With years of experience safely entering clients’ homes, Glamsquad is well prepared and positioned to provide self-care services on demand during this unprecedented time. For many, in-home services provide peace of mind and less exposure than a trip to the salon. Glamsquad stylists are all vetted and safety-trained professionals.

Amy Shecter, CEO of Glamsquad, said, “We are thrilled to launch haircutting services in New York City and resume our in-home styling at a time when our clients are in need of professional grooming, as well as the happiness and confidence that looking great brings. We are looking forward to supporting beauty professionals who utilize our platform as they go back to work in a safe, responsible way. We encourage stylists looking for work to contact us.”

To ensure the safety of all clients and beauty professionals, Glamsquad has created a new set of health protocols for clients and beauty professionals alike. This includes required PPE, a new Barbicide certification for all pros, and a new set of guidelines for the appointment itself.

Before the appointment: All pros will closely follow CDC guidelines for mask and glove use on their way to and from all appointments. This means even while wearing gloves, minimizing touching handrails and door handles. Pros will arrive in a mask and gloves. They will remove their gloves upon arrival to sanitize or wash their hands before they begin setting up. All trash will be collected and taken with them.

During the appointment: Clients are asked to have a designated area and/or a towel laid out for pros to place their kit. Pros will wear a mask and gloves during the service. All products and tools will be wiped down and sanitized on the spot before use on a client using proper sanitation techniques.

“Glamsquad has built a track record of safety and security over the course of nearly one million in-home appointments and services. We are excited to leverage this trust and experience to serve both new and existing clients during this unique moment, with the rigorous attention to safety and comfort that has defined Glamsquad since 2013,” said Jason Perri, founder and Chairman of Glamsquad.

In the NYC metro area, Glamsquad is currently servicing Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.
