Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS) secured a $1 million investment from a private female funding source with a single anchor product.

WHO: Shontay Lundy launched Black Girl Sunscreen in 2016 and has amassed the brand’s success to date with one hero product sunscreen. Their brand story focuses on the need for women of color to have sunscreen products with clean formulations that cater to their needs. The brand is carried in over 200 Target stores across the country which sell the BGS SPF 30 and BGS Kids SPF 50.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Lundy told Forbes that after months of vetting potential partners, she partnered with an investor who embodies many of her traits, namely, integrity, and business savvy.
