YSL Beauté creates a sustainable retailtainment moment for the launch of its Pure Shots skincare range. The sustainably designed installation was created with the vision of taking consumers on an interactive journey powered by advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology, culminating in tailor-made beauty routines. The pop-up concept, which will run through September 30, was created in partnership with China Duty Free Group at the retailer’s Haitang Bay shopping complex.

The ecological concept was fabricated using sustainable materials like Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood and recycled glass designed to be separated for circular end-of-life recycling purposes. Parts of the fixtures are designed to be re-dressed and reused, promoting circular economy practices.

The pop-up also introduced the YSL Urban Skin Check, which offers travelers a fast five-minute skin diagnosis and personalized skincare recommendations. Patented ModiFace AI technology uses a skin-scoring model based on over 10,000 images of women around the world.

A BeautyMatic vending machine elevates the digitalized interactive experience, enabling visitors to redeem exclusive gifts with a YSL coin in a contactless transaction. It also offers a curated selection of YSL Beauté makeup and fragrance products.

“In collaboration with China Duty Free Group, I am thrilled to launch the YSL Beauté Pure Shots pop-up at Haitang Bay Duty Free Shopping Complex,” Emily Coleman, General Manager, YSL Beauté Travel Retail Asia Pacific, said. “Not only have we invented the beauty of tomorrow with digital innovations and services, we have also pushed boundaries to catalyze a positive change towards more sustainable retailtainment.”

YSL Beauté has conducted scientific research to explore the demands of skincare. The new Pure Shots skincare range incorporates 10 years of scientific research and development that explored the demands of skincare for those who live in urban areas with a fast-paced lifestyle and high pressure. The YSL Scientific Advisory Board discovered urban lifestyles accelerate skin aging by +30%.

The Pure Shots concept offers treatments and preventative solutions tailored to individual environments and lifestyles with formulas that fuse a powerful combination of plant extracts sourced from YSL’s Ourika gardens in Morocco. The products are also free from parabens, mineral oil, BHT, SLS, SLES, and other harmful chemical ingredients.

Commenting on the scientific breakthrough that inspired the new launch, YSL Beauté Scientific Director Caroline Negre said, “Inspired by precision medicine, precision cosmetics means we take into account all women and their skin, because we have a precise understanding of how their skin works, how it is affected by the environment and by their lifestyle, and how these factors accelerate the appearance of aging signs. Drawing on this new approach, we provide women’s skin with a tailored solution targeting the specific signs of urban aging.

“The Pure Shots range is designed to meet the expectations of modern women with a fast-paced lifestyle, who live in an extreme urban environment. The range is made up of serums, with Night Reboot being the flagship serum. Night Reboot has been developed for use by women who want to regulate their skin’s self-regeneration to reduce signs of fatigue.”
