Jabil announced the acquisition of Ecologic Brands, a leading provider of sustainable packaging specializing in paper bottle and paper-based packaging solutions, significantly enhancing Jabil’s sustainable packaging platform and offerings for consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers.
WHO: Founded in 2008, Ecologic Brands is dedicated to creating a more sustainable world through better packaging choices. They design and manufacture paper bottles from the ground up. Outer shells are made from recycled cardboard and newspaper and can be recycled, while inner liners use minimal plastic and post-consumer recycled plastic wherever possible.
Jabil is a manufacturing solutions provider with over 260,000 employees across 100 locations in 30 countries. - In Ecologic, Jabil Packaging Solutions gains a commercially mature paper bottle solution enabled by deep material expertise and innovative manufacturing processes.
- Ecologic first commercialized its paper bottle in 2011 with Seventh Generation Inc. Other major CPG brands including L’Oréal rely on Ecologic’s eco.bottle to significantly reduce plastic packaging and advance their sustainability goals.
- Ecologic’s Manteca, California-based operation will join the Jabil Packaging Solutions division.
- While the team and operations will join Jabil, the company will continue to utilize the Ecologic name as its sustainable packaging product platform.
- Ecologic Brands raised $7 million, including an investment from Kruger Inc. and angel investors Catamount Ventures, DBL Investors, and Black Bear Partners, in April 2014.
