2021 WEEK 14: NEED-TO-KNOW BEAUTY LAUNCHES

This week saw Amorepacific leverage Amazon yet again to launch HERA in the US market. We also saw a slew of innovative product launches across categories. Olaplex launched No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask to a waitlist of 20K, while Nature of Things added skincare to its assortment.

The Skinny Confidential: Lauryn Bosstick, Podcaster and Author, is lending the podcast’s name to beauty. Lauryn went straight to her community and listened to their beauty concerns and set out to redefine the preventative beauty industry with the launch of Hot Mess Ice Roller and Ice Queen Face Oil.

HERA Rouge Holic: Combining the idea of “Here, Now, Myself,” HERA has become a coveted Korean brand under the Amorepacific umbrella. The “new classic” Rouge Holic line features dense, rich colors with a texture that glides across the lips accentuating the lips’ natural volume. By using ‘Brilliant Pigment Cutting’ technology, HERA creates wearable and modern mid-tone colors to deliver a chic and classic style. The brand is launching in the US on Amazon.

Lotus Botanicals: One of India’s leading beauty companies Lotus Herbals has launched a plant-based clean beauty brand with a targeted D2C strategy. Lotus Botanicals is grounded in the philosophy that beauty and nature must co-exist and wellness must not come at the expense of nature. The products are formulated using potent botanical extracts and free of harmful chemicals with all packaging being completely recyclable or FSC certified. The initial product range consists of Vitamin C and Baking Soda for skincare and Ginger and Red Onion for hair care.

Premium Product Launches

Nourished: is the world’s first truly customizable and personalized 3D printed nutritional product and patented vegan encapsulation. The new Shape Up Stack was launched to address the impact on mental and physical health, with 1 in 3 putting their weight gain down to increased stress and anxiety. The product is £29.99 for a one-month supply.

SelfMade: launched second product, True Grit, a hair and body scrub that addresses the stressors to your scalp, underarms, pubic area and the whole body restoring skin to a stress-free state. The product comes with the brand’s signature 21-day digital experience based on behavioral models shaped by mental health experts. The experience includes prompts, meditations, and mindful moments designed to build rituals that lead to true self-care and self-actualization. Priced at $34.

Good Dye Young: has launched a new hair makeup called I’m Bored which is a color serum that deposits semi-temporary color. It comes in 5 shades – three made for blondes and two for brunettes and typically lasts between 2-6 washes and is priced at $12.

Beauty Sphere: L’Oreal Paris model, Instagram makeup icon and YouTuber Liza Lash launched what she’s calling “the world’s first skincare cleansing orb” that effectively removes makeup, dirt and oils, while being personally calibrated to the user’s astrological orientation. Inspired by her travels to Japan and Tulum. Liza worked with Mayan spiritualists, shamans and healers learning their philosophies on the universe, oneness and our connection to Mother Earth. Each astrological sign has its own travel friendly sphere that can last from one to three months and is priced at $44.

Nature of Things: Over the last two years Nature of Things therapeutic formulas and iconic packaging have redefined the notion of body care – now the brand is tackling the face. Composed of three essential formulas, the elemental skincare collection is intended for all genders, all skin types and tones ensuring a complete foundation for daily care, with a polishing cleanser that purifies and exfoliates ($65), an essence that balances and primes ($95), and a moisturizer that hydrates while promoting cell turnover and a healthy, radiant complexion ($75).

Olaplex: No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask is the company’s first at-home reparative hair mask infused with Olaplex’s multi-patented bond building technology. The product has been clinically proven to add two times more shine, four times more hydration, six times more smoothness, and 94% saw more body after just one use. Olaplex amassed a wait list of close to 20k for this launch making it the most successful to date. Priced at $28 and available at Sephora.

Prose: The brand’s newest launch is tackling the environmental causes of hair loss. Root Source consists of two pills, one universal soft gel, and one customized capsule. The system is priced at $44 for subscribers.

Refreshments: IPSY’s recently launched personal care brand adds deodorant to the mix. The aluminum-free and baking soda-free formula offers 24-hour protection while hero ingredients like bergamot extract help to naturally control odor. Available in four scents: Unscented, Pacific Fizz, Lavender Splash, Eucalyptus Julep and priced at $8 for members, $11 for non-members.

Dr. Brandt: Building on the Bright This Way collection Liquid Sun Shield is a 100% mineral formula infused with natural brightening ingredients the provides non-chemical, coral reef-safe protection and brightening to all skin types. A combination of Non-nano Zinc Oxide, Extremolyte Technology, and antioxidants provide safe SPF 50 protection from UVA/UVB rays, HEV/blue light, infrared radiation, and pollution. Clary Sage Ferment and Plankton Extract provide a natural brightening effect that diminishes the look of age spots and improves skin clarity. Priced at $65 and available on the brand’s website.

Tata Harper: The SuperKind Collection is specifically formulated with a counter stress complex and tetra lipid complex for reactive skin. These super gentle formulas are created to optimize the skin barrier, rebalance the microbiome and acid mantle while defending against irritants and comforting stressed skin. The cleanser, moisturizer and mask are priced between $65 -$120.

Mass Product Launches

Formula 10.0.6: First developed in 1933, Formula 10.0.6 is the skincare line with tried, tested, and trusted formulations for treating problematic and well-aging skin. Building on the success of the brand’s So Totally Clean, the Skin So Clear collection offers must-have skincare products for acne-prone skin. The products are all priced below $10 and are available at Ulta.

The brand has also expanded its vitamin range with three new Vitamin E-boosted products that feel nourishing and calming while encouraging well-aging.
