Beauty Backer has launched the first crowdfunding website dedicated to beauty products. The platform will have eight main categories: Makeup, Skincare, Haircare, Men’s Grooming, Wellness, Fragrances, Gender-Neutral, and Beauty Technology. With beauty-specific categories, Beauty Backer makes it easy for beauty enthusiasts, investors, and tastemakers to find and fund the next big thing in beauty.
“I’ve been an amateur inventor for most of my life. I was working on an invention that happened to be in the beauty industry,” stated Jacqueline Gutierrez, founder and CEO of Beauty Backer. “My project didn’t belong on Indiegogo and forcing it into design or fashion categories all but set me up for failure.”
Like many entrepreneurs looking to fund their products, Gutierrez turned to Kickstarter and Indiegogo for a categorical fit for her hair product. However, she found that the beauty industry was absent, and most beauty-centric founders failed to meet their campaign goals. When they fall short of their funding goals, the founders behind these brands end up frustrated, stalled, and shaken in their confidence that the market wants what they’re selling. , Within its diverse categories, Beauty Backer provides space for inclusivity and advocating that beauty is for everyone and transcends gender, race or sexual orientation.
In an effort to support beauty entrepreneurs, Beauty Backer has established a program called COVaid. It will live as a new category on its crowdfunding platform, providing access to zero-fee fundraising for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups to keep their businesses afloat during the coronavirus pandemic and offering a way for communities to support local small businesses.
