Stix, a female-founded health DTC company that provides products, education, and community for women to manage their health, raised $3.5MM in seed funding.

WHO: Philadelphia, PA-based female health start-up Stix was founded in 2019 by Jamie Norwood and Cynthia Plotch. The direct-to-consumer brand started with pregnancy tests and has expanded into ovulation tests, prenatal supplements, a suite of UTI products, and a digital platform called The Stix Library that offers expert health resources.

WHY: The company intends to use the funds to expand their physical product offering into new health stages and develop its digital education platform.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “We know from our own experiences as well as the thousands of conversations we’ve had with our customers that women’s health is confusing, overwhelming, and isolating,” said Cynthia Plotch, Stix co-founder. “Stix’s mission is to answer women’s most googled health questions with expert resources, accessible physical and digital products, and space to openly talk about intimate health experiences. This new round will allow us to grow our current base of loyal customers as well as expand the areas of their health that we support them in.”

“The Stix founders immediately impressed us not just with their impressive early traction, but with their passion for the mission of improving the lives and health decisions of their customers,” said Mike Hirshland, co-founder of Resolute Ventures. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them and have them as new nodes in the Resolute peer network.”

“We are proud to be co-leading this seed round of funding with Resolute Ventures to help accelerate Stix’s growth strategy. SWAT Equity Partners evaluates brands based on factors that demonstrate how a company can stand the test of time and build brand equity. We believe the unique value proposition Stix provides women to confidently make empowered choices about their health makes it stand out in the market,” said Sarah Foley, Partner at SWAT Equity.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to critical healthcare products and resources has become more important than ever. We found that our already loyal customer base was turning to us with questions and concerns about their health which we were uniquely positioned to address,” said Stix co-founder Jamie Norwood.
