Northwind, a teledermatology platform participating in the prestigious Y Combinator winter 2022 cohort, has launched with $1.4 million in funding.

WHO: Founder and CEO Johannes Vermandois launched Northwind as a teledermatology platform focused on psoriasis and eczema, providing custom treatments and ongoing support from board-certified dermatologists. The model combines technology at scale with highly efficient therapeutic treatments at a fraction of the cost. The product range was formulated in Sweden based on skincare technology, natural ingredients, and feedback from 16,000 patients. Compounded prescriptions range from $40 to $110, while non-prescription products are priced from $34 to $45. Doctor appointments are $40 and can be booked through the app.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "Northwind redefines the patient experience for the vast section of the population with difficult skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dry skin," Philippe Klintefelt Collet, partner at Global Founders Capital, told Beauty Independent. "Through a modern digital medical interface and a proprietary suite of clinically approved cosmetic and Rx products, Northwind reduces the time to treatment by 10X and cost of care by 3X while offering treatment effectiveness not experienced before. To us, Northwind embodies what we look for in a modern category-defining health company."
