Actress Olivia Wilde Launches Consumer Investment Firm

Actor, director, and producer Olivia Wilde has quietly co-founded an investment firm known as Proximity Ventures, according to Bloomberg.WHO: New York–based Proximity was founded by actress Olivia Wilde, Neil Sirni, formerly of Roc Nation’s venture fund Arrive, Jason Mack, formerly of Mack Ventures, and Santi White, the musician known as Santigold.Proximity plans to raise both an early-stage fund, writing eight equity checks of $500,000 to $2 million each per year, and a $100 million growth-stage fund, with the aim of writing $10 million to $25 million checks about four times a year. About 75% of the firm’s investments will be in the US, with foreign investments focused on Southeast Asia.The firm will also tackle special-situations investments, which may include participating in take-private transactions committing up to $100 million or more. For now, the capital for such transactions would be raised through single-asset special-purpose vehicles. DETAILS:The firm is focused on consumer and enterprise investments and has backed four companies, including biotech company Pendulum Therapeutics.Proximity expects to hold a first close next month.
