Terasana Clinical

Amyris has been quietly winding down Terasana Clinical amid restructuring and bankruptcy. Amyris acquired the brand in 2021 and relaunched it last summer.

WHO: Terasana was a natural skincare brand that is 100% vegan, cruelty free, and untouched by harmful chemicals. The brand was launched by Eric Kuskey, President of Manhattan Avenue Brands, Tina Rocca, founder of Aroma Naturals Candles that was acquired by Yankee Candle, Jeff Smith, CEO of CreateTribe and co-founder of Influencer.co, and Philip Zellner, CEO of Lighthouse Beauty Marketing.

Terasana was the first acquisition of a brand by Amyris. It expanded its portfolio of brands into the CBD space. The brand was relaunched on Amazon and DTC as Terasana Clinical in August 2022 with a hero product Clear + Control Healthy Skin Serum, designed to clear and balance the skin and formulated with two of Amyris' sustainably sourced ingredients, squalane and cannabigerol (CBG).

WHY: Amyris plans to return to its roots of developing bio-based materials after shedding its consumer portfolio and restructuring the company's cost structure, capital structure, and liquidity position after exiting bankruptcy proceedings.
