Key Takeaways:

  • Capella Hotel Group expands into branded wellness residences.
  • Dedicated wellness floors and amenities prioritize restoration and mindfulness.
  • As part of WellEra, the development combines a clinic, a retreat, and lifestyle retail.

Thailand remains one of the world’s leading wellness destinations, ranking 24th globally in the wellness economy with a market valued at $42.7 billion in 2024, according to the Global Wellness Institute. The country has also become a hub for wellness-integrated branded residences, with developments such as ROMM Convent and Amanpuri Residences catering to the growing demand for health-centered luxury living. Now, Capella Hotel Group is joining in.

Already established in the country through Capella Bangkok, which was ranked by 50 Best as the World’s Best Hotel in 2024, the group has announced Capella Residences Bangkok. The 262-unit project will serve as the centerpiece of WellEra, a 29-billion-baht (approximately $188.1 million) mixed-use development that blends healthcare, science, technology, and lifestyle. Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BDMS), Thailand’s leading private healthcare network, is a partner in the project.

According to discussions at the Global Wellness Summit’s 2026 Wellness Real Estate & Communities Symposium, neuroaesthetics, the practice of connecting design with emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being through elements such as color, scent, texture, and lighting, is emerging as a key trend in wellness real estate. Capella is taking the concept further with dedicated wellness floors featuring an infinity pool, plunge pool, spa suites, and mindfulness studios designed to promote restoration and sensory well-being.

The development itself is designed as an interconnected ecosystem linking the residences with BDMS Wellness Clinic’s urban wellness retreat and WellEra’s lifestyle and retail offerings.

“Excellence in hospitality is the foundation of everything we do,” said Roland Fasel, President of Capella Hotel Group, in a press release. “The personalization, the attention to craft, the bespoke experiences that make each stay entirely one’s own. We share BDMS’s vision to take that spirit of service further into something more enduring, into the quality and vitality of how people live every day.”

Residents will have access to a wellness concierge, personalized health protocols, and a vitality checkpoint that monitors biometrics. A residents’ lounge will also host ongoing conversations on longevity, nutrition, and well-being, reinforcing WellEra’s mission to integrate health, longevity, and quality of life into everyday living.

“Good health is not an aspiration, but a way of life,” said Dr. Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, Chairperson of the Executive Committee and President of BDMS, in the release. “It is the first development of its kind in Southeast Asia to integrate scientific wellness and preventative medicine into every dimension of daily life.”

The new wellness-integrated ecosystem arrives amid growing recognition that well-being extends beyond diet and fitness to the physical environments people spend their time in. While Capella has expanded its residencies across Asia, with projects underway in Nanjing and Seoul, Bangkok represents the company’s most comprehensive hospitality offering.

The broader wellness real estate market has become more accessible in recent years, with developers emphasizing investments in cleaner indoor air, reliable cooling systems, access to nature, and mixed-use communities, for example. Yet the continued rise of ultra-luxury projects like Capella Residences Bangkok underscores ongoing demand in affluent areas for residences that seamlessly integrate hospitality with services inspired by health and longevity.
