Beauty Executive Moves February 2022

February saw some significant changes in corner offices around the industry, with many of them completely unexpected.Executive Chairman William P. Lauder and CEO Fabrizio Freda confirmed, in a statement, the firing of John Demsey for his recent racist Instagram posts. Dempsey served as the Executive Group President and worked at Estée Lauder for almost 30 years.Jill Scalamandre joins Beekman 1802 as Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, Scalamandre will bring her expertise to accelerate company growth following recent a $92MM majority investment from Eurazeo Brands. Scalamandre is a well-tenured beauty executive with over 20 years of experience in leadership roles at global brands including Shiseido, Coty, Prada, Fekkai, Avon, and Revlon. In addition, she serves as Chairwoman of the Cosmetics Executive Women organization.David Greenberg has been named CEO of L'Oréal USA, succeeding Stéphane Rinderknech in the position effective immediately. He also now serves as President of North America Zone for the company and is a member of its executive committee. Greenberg has been at the company for more than 28 years, most recently holding the position of President of L'Oréal Professional Products Division in North America.Bath & Body Works CEO Andrew Meslow is stepping down from the post as well as the retailer's board. The company cited health reasons for Meslow's departure, which surprised analysts. Board Chair Sarah Nash has taken on the title of Executive Chair as part of the transition. She will become interim CEO once Meslow steps down and as the company searches for a permanent chief.
