Beauty Executives on the Move in April 2022

April was a slow month in terms of executive moves in the industry. The most notable was the departure of Cult Beauty's co-founder just months after its acquisition by THG.

e.l.f. Beauty announced Jennie Laar will join the company as Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer. She will report to Tarang Amin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and will succeed Rich Baruch, who will take on a CEO role outside of the company.

The turmoil continues at THG as Alexia Inge, co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Cult Beauty, resigned eight months after THG acquired the business for a £275 million ($382.91 million) deal on a cash and debt-free basis from private shareholders, including Inge and majority investor Mark Quinn-Newall, who also cofounded Net-A-Porter.

Stuart La Brooy has been appointed Vice President Sephora, Southeast Asia and Oceania, excluding China. La Brooy joins the company from drinks company Diageo, where he held the position of Senior Marketing Director, Strategic Partnerships Asia.

Raw Sugar appoints Michael Marquis as the new CEO. He succeeds Ronnie Shugar, who co-founded the brand. Marquis was most recently the Global President of Vogue International, a Johnson & Johnson Co.

World-renowned makeup artist and creative director Sir John will join CTZN Cosmetics’ board of directors as their new Chief Creative Officer, and will also hold an equity stake in the brand. As part of Sir John's new appointment, he will help lead product innovation and launches and inform future brand growth.

Univar appoints Tony Jaillot as Vice President of Global Beauty & Personal Care. Jaillot will lead the company's sales, marketing, technical, and product management efforts across the beauty and personal care end market. He joins the global Ingredients & Specialties channel led by Nick Powell, President of Ingredients & Specialties, and reports to Matthew Ottaway, Senior Vice President of Consumer Solutions. Jaillot, a renowned industry consultant, joins Univar having held previous senior beauty care leadership roles with BASF, Cargill, Ciba, as well as IMCD. 

WWP Beauty, a full-service supplier to the beauty industry, announced the appointment of Jennifer Adams as their new Chief Executive Officer. Jennifer joined WWP Beauty in 2020 as the company's Chief Financial Officer.

In addition, Maria Marshall was appointed as WWP Beauty's General Manager of North America. Maria joined the company in 2020. In her new role, she will lead and drive sales for the North American region. James Farley will now be serving as EVP of Business Development. He has been with WWP Beauty since 2012 and was the company's former EVP of North America.
