BeautyStat Cosmetics

Recognized as one of the world’s leading cosmetic chemists, Ron Robinson, CEO and founder of BeautyStat, set his goal to develop a revolutionary new technology to stabilize active ingredients such as pure vitamin C. After spending his entire career trying to solve this problem and five extensive years in the lab, he finally did. And as a result, his brand, BeautyStat, was born with the world’s first 20% stable vitamin C serum, the Universal C Skin Refiner. No other product on the market contains the same potency.

Since its launch in 2019, BeautyStat has grown rapidly as a company, developing a whole line of award-winning skincare products. From the Universal C Skin Refiner to eye cream, cleanser, moisturizer, and facial oil, the line has won 11 beauty awards from Allure, Good Housekeeping, and Women’s Health. BeautyStat has found tremendous success on-shelf as it expands its distribution into several retailers. Most notably, Ulta Beauty. This year alone, as a direct result of its sales performance, overdelivering on the sales forecast, BeautyStat went from being in 260 Ulta Beauty doors to over 1,300 doors nationwide.

What are some of your key business initiatives for 2023?

We launched a breakthrough skincare innovation in February exclusive to Ulta Beauty. Invest in always-on influencer seeding. Diversify paid social investment into TikTok and native ads. Double down on remarketing with email and SMS marketing.

What are you most proud of having accomplished?

Exceeding our test launch at Ulta Beauty and now being offered in full distribution in over 1,300 doors.

What has been the biggest surprise since the brand was founded?

I never thought that consumers would feel so proud to use and show their use of our products on social media. It's truly mind-blowing to see these fast-growing loyal followers who love sharing their testimonials.

What aspect of your brand DNA fuels your competitive advantage?

Our brand is rooted in consumer data and insights. We have a database of over 100K beauty consumers that we constantly canvas to learn what they are looking for in their beauty needs. We then close those gaps with innovative, high performance products that are patented so no one else can duplicate us. BeautyStat is cosmetic chemist founded. Science-backed. High performance. Clinically tested. Patented.

"Nothing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad."
By Ron Robinson, Founder + CEO, BeautyStat Cosmetics

Please share your insight on the future of the beauty industry.

I think consumers are really gravitating towards results-driven and ingredient-focused products. I think the consumer has become more savvy and educated more than ever, in terms of ingredients, what works to help improve―whether it's skin, hair, body.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Nothing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad.

Paying it forward, what advice would you give to someone contemplating launching a beauty brand?

Make sure that you have tested your concept to make sure it is a market fit. I meet entrepreneurs all the time that think they have a good idea, but they lack consumer data to support it. This could be critical to the success of the brand.

If you could change one thing in the beauty industry, what would it be?

I'd love to see more diversity on the shelves as well as in senior management and boards.
