Berjé Acquires Global Citrus International and Acelim del Peru

Berjé, a global leader and distributor of essential oils and aromatic chemicals, has acquired two top Peruvian companies. Global Citrus International (GCI) and Acelim del Peru will operate under the Berjé umbrella.WHO: Founded in 1971 by the family patriarch James Readhimer, the businesses continued to grow under James’ sons, with David Readhimer serving as CEO and Marvin Readhimer serving as CFO and legal lead since the 1980s. GCI and Acelim are growers, processors, and suppliers of lime-based products, including fresh limes, lime essential oils, lime juice, and lime peel. Before the acquisition, GCI and Acelim were owned and operated by the Texas-based Readhimer family.Berjé Inc. is a family-owned business that has operated for over 75 years across three generations. The company was founded in 1949 by Alexander and Julius “Les” Bleimann, whose innovative approach to creating value from by-products and aromatic raw materials set the stage for Berjé to become a leading flavor and fragrance industry supplier. WHY: This acquisition expands Berjé's position as an international producer within the flavor and fragrance industry and, bolstering its existing citrus line, reinforces a commitment to stability and quality within the global supply chain. IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "This is an extraordinary opportunity for Berjé to strengthen our comprehensive line of citrus products, providing our customers access to the highest quality products available in the marketplace," said Gillian Bleimann-Boucard, CEO of Berjé.
