BIA Brands has acquired Mumbai-based TrueKind, marking its first acquisition in the skincare space as it actively builds a house of consumer brands.

WHO: TrueKind was founded by Keshav Biyani and Prabhu Karthikeyan in October 2021. The Indian skincare brand’s portfolio includes a range of moisturizers, cleaners, toners, facial oils, and sleep masks.

Founded by Sudhakar Adapa and Anudeep Chappa in 2022, BIA is a platform intended to build and scale brands originating from India to create a consumer portfolio. BIA has made three acquisitions across the food and beverage space, which include specialty coffee brand Brew and Bliss, flavored nuts start-up Nut-O-Licious, and blends company LaKahFay.

WHY: This strategic move signifies BIA Brands’ foray into skincare, expanding its reach within the beauty and personal care sector.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “The acquisition of TrueKind is a key step in BIA Brands’ journey towards diversifying our offerings and venturing into the beauty and personal care space,” said founder Sudhakar Adapa. “We are setting the stage to build and foster truly global brands that originate from India, transcending geographical boundaries and consumer expectations.”

“TrueKind has always been about delivering honest, effective skincare solutions. I am confident that BIA Brands will carry this legacy forward with their commitment to quality and innovation. TrueKind is poised for great success and growth under their stewardship,” Keshav Biyani, founder of TrueKind, added.
