Indian AI-driven dermatology platform Cureskin closed $20 million in a Series B funding round led by healthcare-focused venture capital firm HealthQuad. The latest investment brings Cureskin's total funding to $26 million.WHO: Founded in 2017 by Guna Kakulapati, Ramakrishna Rajanna, and Dr. Charu Sharma, Cureskin is a dermatology app that uses AI to provide expert and personalized treatment plans for skin, hair, body, and other personal care concerns. The technology was developed using a database of millions of images, and claims to be able to detect skin conditions across different skin types with high accuracy. To date, it claims to have treated about 1.5 million customers for various skin conditions through its app, with over 80% of them from tier 2 and 3 cities in India.WHY: The investment further fuels the company's vision to widen access to quality dermatological care in India by enhancing its AI capabilities further and broaden its range of solution offerings.IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "These funds will help further enhance our AI capabilities, accelerate our growth, and expand solution offerings," said co-founder and CEO Guna Kakulapati.“Cureskin is a comprehensive digital-first platform focused on customized skin and hair care treatments solving for the lack of access to dermatologists with a deep AI-led diagnosis while providing high-quality outcome-driven regimens at affordable prices,” said Dr. Pinak Shrikhande, Managing Director, HealthQuad.
