Key Takeaways:

  • Half Magic Beauty grew out of the makeup looks Davy created for HBO's Euphoria.
  • The fresh capital will support retail expansion, new categories, and team growth.
  • Point King Capital led the Series A funding round.

Half Magic Beauty leverages cultural IP and built-in audience to fuel growth.

WHO: In 2022, after spending years dreaming up impossible-to-find makeup products and shades, Donni Davy, best known for her Emmy Award–winning makeup on HBO’s Euphoria, launched Half Magic Beauty in collaboration with A24. Half Magic aims to empower individuals to express their unique beauty with confidence and style, fusing beauty and entertainment and inviting everyone to become the star of their own captivating story. The brand has since expanded beyond its Euphoria connections, building distribution in the US at Ulta Beauty, Sephora in the UK, and Mecca in Australia and New Zealand.

WHY: The investment will accelerate the brand’s global retail expansion, support product development, and build out its team.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “Right now is the biggest milestone,” Davy told WWD. “We’ve created an engaged community, numerous award-winning products and counting, we’ve expanded globally…. We’re in this really exciting sweet spot where we’re kind of cult, and the people who know and love us really show up for us and help introduce our products to others.”

“The really special thing about Point King is they are operators as much as they are investors,” Half Magic Beauty’s Chief Executive Officer Mike McNeil said. “They have an understanding of the Australian, New Zealand region that was really strategic for where we are going with Half Magic.
