Betting on the growth of wellness-focused luxury hotels, the Courtin family’s investment arm Famille C Participations made a €130 million investment in Evok Collection, Pierre Bastid’s group’s hotel division.

WHO: Using property owned by Pierre Bastid, Evok was conceived and developed by Romain Yzerman and General Manager Emmanuel Sauvage and opened in 2014. The aim of its three co-founders was to create new lifestyles and destinations that change the rules of what a luxury hotel can be. At each of its addresses, Evok offers its guests the welcome of their dreams, providing a unique contemporary interpretation of European culture and lifestyle.

Evok Collection was created by Romain Yzerman and Emmanuel Sauvage in 2014, as part of Bastid’s group. The goal was to develop a luxury proposition while offering special moments in life for people in its hotels and their neighborhoods.

Famille C Participations is the private investment firm of the Courtin-Clarins family, founder of the luxury cosmetics company Groupe Clarins. The firm was founded in 2017 by Christian Courtin-Clarins, the son of Clarins founder Jacques Courtin-Clarins, and his brother Olivier Courtin-Clarins. The group makes minority investments in small- to medium-sized European companies active in sectors such as beauty, wellness, and sustainable development providing financial resources and strategic guidance. They've acquired Pai Skincare and ILIA and made minority investments in Joone and Ceremonia.

WHY: Famille C and Evok Collection plan to develop their vision of luxury hotels jointly, targeting 15 new addresses owned and operated worldwide within five years. Today Evok Collection has six such locations in Paris and Venice, and has two new hotels in Madrid and in Rome set to open.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “We are very excited about this new commitment, which furthers our work in beauty and well-being and embodies our ambition for the French art of living,” said Prisca Courtin, Managing Director of Famille C Participations.

“With this investment, Famille C Participations is implementing the strategy led by Prisca Courtin and her teams, naturally expanding its business into hotel experiences where well-being is central,” the two companies said in a statement.

"A new stage for Evok Collection. United by a common vision, I'm looking forward to continuing to write the Evok story together and I'm convinced that this collaboration with the Famille C Participations team will lead us to new successes," said Emmanuel Sauvage, Directeur Général de Evok Collection.
