Flaus, the world's first electric flosser, closed a $2 million seed round to fuel the growth for its revolutionary, patented technology and accessible design that makes flossing as quick, easy, and comfortable as brushing your teeth.

WHO: Samantha Coxe and Elli Hanson launched Flaus in 2019 as a direct-to-consumer oral health brand, selling an electric flosser to make flossing quick, easy, and comfortable. Similar to an electronic toothbrush, Flaus uses real dental floss and sonic vibrations. Made of compostable and biodegradable plastic, each Flaus Kit comes with 90 refillable floss heads that use 95% less floss than the current ADA recommendation of 18 inches. Recyclable Flaus Head refills are shipped every three months.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "With human-centric design, planet-friendly materials and a mission to transform oral hygiene routines into oral beauty rituals, we set out to create a solution that not only makes flossing less time consuming and painful, but also empowers you to put your morals where your mouth is," said Elli Hanson, co-founder of Flaus.

DETAILS:

  • Flaus closed a $2 million seed round led by Yeti Capital with participation from Greenlight Ventures, USC Venture Fund, and Doug Bouton, co-founder of Halo Top Ice Cream.
  • This round brings the total funding raised to $4 million.
  • The business started with $80,000 in personal savings and a $2 million friends-and-family round.
