Gen Z brand Experiment relaunches after two years with one hero product and $1 million in funding.

WHO: Experiment Beauty was founded in 2020 by Lisa Guerrera and Emmy Ketcham as a side hustle. The brand relaunched with one hero product, an endlessly reusable silicone sheet mask. Since the release of Avant Guard's initial iteration, the product has been customized based on feedback from customers, resulting in a patent-pending design.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "Science doesn't have to be black-and-white dropper bottles, lab coats and very serious," Guerrera told Glossy. "Science can be colorful, weird and exciting. Our end goal is to rewrite what science looks and feels like in the beauty industry."

DETAILS:

  • Experiment raised $1 million from Lakehouse Ventures, Divergent Capital, Press Reset Ventures, and Michael Preysman, founder and former CEO of Everlane.
  • The first run of Avant Guard was launched with $8,500 of personal savings.
