Spa pioneer Cinq Mondes has taken a significant minority investment from Group Batteur.
WHO: Founded in 2001 by Jean-Louis Poiroux, Cinq Mondes has been a pioneer in cosmetics for the spa industry, operating a network of 20 high-end hotel and urban spas. In 2019, the group launched Biovive, its new brand of fully organic cosmetics sourced from France based on gemmotherapy.
Group Batteur is the parent company of Laboratoires Gilbert, a pharmaceutical and cosmetic group located in France. Laboratoires Gilbert develops, manufactures, and sells more than 30 brands. The group is known for its expertise in pharmacies and para-pharmacies.
WHY: This deal will allow Cinq Mondes to rely on the pharmaceutical sales force of Laboratoires Gilbert with a view to accelerating the development of Biovive. Batteur will also benefit from the expertise of Cinq Mondes to strengthen its Algotherm brand internationally.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Jean-Louis Poiroux told Sense of Wellness, “This alliance opens up strong growth prospects with numerous synergies. For example, Gilbert Laboratories will provide us with industrial skills and excellence which will enable us to accelerate the development of Biovive and Algotherm, two innovative and pioneering brands in their fields, which are organic cosmetics and marine cosmetics. This partnership will also boost the international deployment of our Cinq Mondes Spas and Institutes because our geographic footprints are complementary: Cinq Mondes is very present in Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean, while Laboratoires Gilbert are well established in Asia.”
