The subscription service Curlbox, launched in 2012 to make textured haircare more accessible, is closing.
WHO: Myleik Teele founded Curlbox in 2012, searching for products that worked for her textured hair. Frustrated by the experience, she created a brand that allowed women to try several products for the price of one, creating an affordable and effortless way to explore haircare products delivered by subscription each month.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS: In a message on the brand's website, the founder said, "Farewells have never been easy, and this one is tough. Our journey has spanned over eleven years, with 127 subscription boxes and countless non-subscription boxes, but it's time to close our doors. What started as an idea to make textured haircare more fun and accessible without breaking the bank turned into a business that employed numerous people of color and raised awareness for many brands. The memories of photo shoots and interviews will stay with me forever. Words cannot express my gratitude, but I want to thank you. We'll still be available for customer service inquiries. I sincerely appreciate every customer who helped make one of my wildest dreams come true."
