HUE

Inclusive UK-based skincare brand HUE has secured a £250K seed investment from an angel investor group ahead of the brand's launch.

WHO: An inclusive skincare brand founded by British-Somali medical doctor Hani Hassan and British-Arab architect Mona Haidar, HUE is dedicated to providing better options to people of color. The product formulations combine robust scientific methodology with a rich sensory experience that aims to redefine skincare.

WHY: The £250K seed investment will fund research and development initiatives while supporting the upcoming launch of HUE's hyperpigmentation serum Supra-Fade, which has a waitlist of 6,500+ people.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Dr. Hassan told Cosmetics Business, “The current skincare market largely produces skincare that does not cater to the needs of People of Color. Yet, the science of skin is unambiguous in that ethnic skin is structurally and biochemically different to white skin. HUE products are designed and formulated to address the specific needs of skin of color, while undermining the false binary between science and beauty.”

Matteo Bozzo, lead investor and HUE board member, said, “I am thrilled to back Hani and Mona in their journey to build HUE. Their genuine vision, rigorous medical approach, and entrepreneurial drive set them apart.”

DETAILS:

  • HUE has secured a £250K seed investment from a group of angel investors that was led by Matteo Bozzo, a former KKR executive and founder and CEO of HeidiPay, and included entrepreneurs and private equity executives from Europe, the US, and Africa.
