The facial care market, which is predicted to reach $169.37 billion globally by 2027, has seen a sharp rise in consumer interest over recent years, fueled by social media, celebrity endorsements, and the booming medical aesthetics sector. However, as facials become increasingly more mainstream, professionals have voiced concern over a lack of standardization and inconsistent quality of training industry-wide.
To tackle this issue head-on, celebrated facialist Teresa Tarmey—previously Dior Global Skincare expert who has worked with celebrities including Kate Moss and Sienna Miller—is raising the bar for facial education through the launch of the Teresa Tarmey Education Programme. The program, underpinned by Tarmey’s 27+ years of clinical experience and more than 50,000 hours of hands-on skin treatment experience, is a CIBTAC-endorsed training course designed to equip the next generation of skin therapists with advanced clinical skills and hands-on expertise.
“I wanted to create something that cuts through the noise,” Tarmey told BeautyMatter. “There’s so much confusion in the industry right now, with some of the most effective techniques being overlooked completely, including needle extractions.”
Tarmey’s course includes a blend of online pre-learning, as well as an intensive one-day, in-person training session at the Teresa Tarmey flagship clinic in Notting Hill, London. To ensure accuracy and value for money, each session is limited to ten students and taught by Tarmey herself, alongside a senior educator, allowing for personalized instruction and the opportunity to master facial techniques. Successful graduates will be awarded a globally recognized CIBTAC-endorsed training certificate upon completing case studies and a one-to-one practical assessment.
A unique feature of the program is training on the Skin Master Plus by Brera, an ultrasonic exfoliation and infusion system co-developed by Tarmey and manufactured in Italy. Through this education, students will gain hands-on experience using the device to deliver targeted facials that are tailored to each individual, tech-forward, and results driven.
Through the program, Tarmey aims not just to train facialists but also to elevate the profession itself, nurturing a new class of practitioners equipped to deliver trusted results in a market that is more competitive and sometimes misleading.
“This programme is about going back to basics and building real, solid expertise that endures throughout the trends of the industry and that is rooted in fully understanding and mastering the skin and what works,” Tarmey added.
