The premium hair and scalp care brand Jupiter raised $3 million in an extended seed round to fuel retail expansion.

WHO: Founded in 2020 by Robbie Salter and Ross Goodhart, Jupiter offers products designed to improve scalp health and scalp discomfort. The range consists of six products priced from $15 to $40: Balancing Shampoo, Nourishing Conditioner, Restoring Serum, Purifying Mask, Scalp Brush, and Daily Scalp Essential Supplement for thinning hair. The brand is currently sold in Bergdorf Goodman and dermatology clinics.

WHY: The new capital will be earmarked for retail expansion, product development, and building out their team.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Amanda Schutzbank, General Partner and co-founder at Willow Growth Partners, told Beauty Independent, “Historically, the scalp discomfort category has been synonymous with dusty old dandruff products. Those products have had their own associations like being made only for men,” she says. “It’s no surprise that women have been starved for modern solutions that are not only functional, but won’t mess up a color or chemical treatment. Jupiter is shouting from the rooftops that those days are over.”

DETAILS:

  • Jupiter closed $3 million in growth funding from Willow Growth Partners, Springdale Ventures, and SWAT Equity Partners.
  • According to the brand, from 2022 to 2023, sales increased 115%, with less than 1% in returns and a 40% 12-month repeat purchase rate.
  • Jupiter was a member of the accelerator program Target Takeoff’s 2022 cohort.
  • Previously, Jupiter secured funds in three tranches: a 2019 pre-launch round, with additional rounds in 2021 and 2022; investors include Sugar Capital and Vanterra Capital.
