Indian Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has made a strategic investment, becoming a co-owner with the co-founders of Sugar Cosmetics, Vineeta Singh and Kaushik Mukherjee, to launch a Korean skincare brand, Quench Botanics.

WHO: Launched in 2022, Quench Botanics is a "made in Korea" skincare brand targeting Gen Z and millennial consumers and tailored for Indian skin and climate. The 90-product range is 100% vegetarian, toxin-free, and formulated with natural ingredients. The omnichannel brand is available at more than 1,000 offline stores across India and sells on all the leading e-commerce platforms.

Sugar Cosmetics was founded in 2015 by Vineeta Singh and Kaushik Mukherjee as a direct-to-consumer beauty brand with products specifically created to suit Indian skin tones. While e-commerce still contributes to half the business's revenue, Sugar has built an omnichannel distribution network with more than 45,000 retail points across 550 cities, with 50% of its sales from online commerce.

WHY: The company said the investment strengthens the actor’s entrepreneurial objectives, and the partnership will leverage Singh and Mukherjee’s experience in the beauty e-commerce space to scale the new Korean skincare brand.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “I am delighted to join forces with Vineeta, Kaushik, and their entire team to bring Quench Botanics to the Indian consumer. I believe in their vision for the brand and the commitment to creating simplified, natural ingredient-led products. It perfectly captures my idea of beauty and skincare. I believe we have a differentiated product offering that will provide uncomplicated skincare solutions to address diverse Indian skin concerns and climatic conditions, all at an affordable price," said Kareena Kapoor Khan.

“What we bring to the table is the education and the distribution, and Kareena brings the passion for the category. That’s why we decided to come together in this joint venture—so she’s coming as an investor and a strategic partner," said Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO, Sugar Cosmetics.
