Key Takeaways:The KilgourMD Series A, of undisclosed size, was led by Prelude Growth Partners. This round follows a $5 million seed round led by Willow Growth Partners closed last year.KilgourMD, led by a Stanford-trained dermatologist, is bridging clinical dermatology and modern beauty to treat hair thinning at its biological root—through scalp health.BeautyMatter 2026 FUTURE50 brand KilgourMD closed a Series A funding round led by Prelude Growth Partners.WHO: James Kilgour founded KilgourMD in 2024 and works as both a practicing dermatologist and a clinical researcher. The Stanford-trained dermatologist saw a growing number of women in his clinic struggling with thinning hair—often dismissed, frustrated by harsh drug treatments, and underserved by the beauty industry. The brand’s four products, which include shampoo, conditioner, and two hair serums, focus on a core consumer, which is female from 45-65, and is only sold DTC. Combining clinical dermatology with cutting-edge cosmetic science, KilgourMD created a new category of “scalp-first” treatment—formulas that restore the scalp’s barrier, rebalance inflammation, and reactivate dormant follicles without the irritation or dependence of minoxidil.WHY: The brand is launching a dandruff product at the end of the year and is looking to broaden the need states it targets.IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “In the last 12 months, we’ve done more than $40 million in gross sales. We’re now selling a bottle of our serum every 20 seconds in the US. The brand has exploded in terms of volume just even since our seed round,” Kilgour said.
