There’s been a “rumor” floating around the beauty industry the last few years—that it’s never been easier to launch a beauty brand. Some of the barriers to entry may have gotten lower, there are more resources available, and social media certainly democratized elements of marketing, but building a company is hard work—REALLY hard work.
The Credo team realizes that access to talent, industry contacts, strategic thought partners, and fundraising are crucial elements, but that access is not always equitable. The intent of the Credo For Change program is to level the playing field with the intent to help facilitate aspiring BIPOC founders or new companies in functional areas that may help prepare their brand for larger distribution in retailers or direct-to-consumer.
Having received over 135 submissions, the first Credo For Change class consists of 13 amazing founders.
The inaugural session starts in August 2020 and continues through December 2020. Each founder will have one-on-one monthly time with Credo executives and industry experts for ongoing strategic support, group Zoom classes on functional topics specific to growing a clean beauty brand, and meaningful connections with fellow entrepreneurs, beauty experts, investors, and the Credo team. Moving forward, the goal is to run these sessions twice a year.
