Men’s start-up Disco recently closed a $5 million seed round led by Midnight Venture Partners.

WHO: Launched in 2019 by Benjamin Smith, Disco is a clean skincare created for men. The brand consists of a face mask and scrub, eye stick, face cleanser stick and moisturizer, body wash, and deodorant.

WHY: The brand will use the new capital to fund expansion and product development and growing its team.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “Many brands were already doing moderately well and after COVID-19 hit, they started to do better because of online shopping,” Smith told WWD. “We weren’t in a strong position when COVID-19 started and had a lot of figuring out to do, but once we did we started to grow to scale.”

DETAILS:

  • Disco closed a $5 million seed round following a year of triple-digit growth month over month since summer 2020.
  • Midnight Venture Partners led the round with participation from Tecovas founder Paul Hedrick, Bryan Mahoney, founder of Arfa Brands / former CTO of Glossier, and Richards Rainwater founder Taylor O’Neil.
  • The brand is distributed in 40 Nordstrom doors with a full-door rollout in the works with Amazon, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie, along with plans to open an additional big retail partner.
