Atmosphera Beauty was founded in Canada a decade ago by esthetician Katelyn Rousselle. With over 20 years of hands-on experience treating clients' skin in dramatically different climates—from dry heat and high-altitude chill to coastal humidity and urban pollution—Katelyn witnessed firsthand how the environment directly impacts the skin barrier.

Built on that experience, Atmosphera Beauty led the development of a new category of skincare based on climate typing—the idea that your environment should guide the products you use. Designed to simplify routines and support the skin's natural resilience, Atmosphera Beauty creates skincare for real life and for women who do it all.

Insights: Katelyn Rousselle, Founder

Why now and why you?

Consumers are overwhelmed by increasingly complicated skincare routines and constant trend fatigue, while their skin is under more stress than ever from climate, lifestyle, and environmental changes. After 20 years of treating skin across a wide range of climates, I've seen firsthand what truly works—and what doesn't. That experience has shown me that healthier skin doesn't come from doing more; it comes from doing the right things consistently. Today, consumers are looking for simpler routines that help their skin become stronger, healthier, and more resilient over time.

What fuels your competitive advantage?

Our climate-curated philosophy. How skin behaves in real world conditions, not just skin types.

What’s your proudest accomplishment to date?

Building a brand that people genuinely connect with emotionally and trust. Customers consistently tell me they feel seen, understood, and relieved to finally have skincare that feels supportive instead of overwhelming.

"Do not confuse slow growth with failure; it ultimately leads to the right places. Meaningful brands take time to build!"
By Katelyn Rousselle, Founder, Atmosphera

What is the one thing you wish someone had told you?

I wish someone had told me how much emotional resilience entrepreneurship requires. Building a brand challenges you personally just as much as professionally.

What would you tell your past self before starting this journey?

I would tell myself not to confuse slow growth with failure; it ultimately leads to the right places. Meaningful brands take time to build!

What does success look like in the next 3-5 years?

Success looks like building a globally recognized brand with strong emotional relevance, loyal customers, and long-term cultural impact.

What's one industry trend that is overhyped, and what's being overlooked?

One of the most overhyped trends in skincare is the constant cycle of new products, viral ingredients, and overconsumption that encourages people to keep adding more to their routines. What's being overlooked is the importance of supporting long-term skin resilience. Instead of chasing the latest trend, consumers benefit most from simple, consistent routines that strengthen the skin barrier and help skin adapt to everyday environmental and lifestyle stressors.

How do you think the industry needs to evolve?

The industry needs to move toward more honesty, simplicity, and trust. Consumers are craving products that fit into real life, not unrealistic standards or endless routines. Stop with the guilt-driven sales tactics.

If you could wave a magic wand, what one wish would you make for your business?

I would want Atmosphera Beauty to reach every person who feels overwhelmed or frustrated with their skin and help them feel confident and supported again.
