Kosmopedia announced financial backing from the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
WHO: Kosmopedia is a database of 30,000 cosmetics ingredient information in a science-based format that assists consumers in expanding their product knowledge. The tool is designed for the needs of the Polish market and is focused on providing neutral, accurate information.
WHY: The capital will allow the Kosmopedia app to launch in the Polish market while expanding the existing online database.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Blanka Chmurzyńska-Brown, general director of the Polish Union of the Cosmetics Industry, says, "It is worth knowing that the cosmetics industry is strictly regulated in Poland and Europe. Cosmetics are controlled at every stage of production—from developing the recipe to recycling the packaging. This should reassure consumers, and yet we observe something exactly the opposite. We observe with concern how nowadays simplified messages about what is tested, safe and legal in cosmetics flow to users from many information streams. Taking shortcuts inevitably leads to incorrect analysis and simply misleads consumers. The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection manages this area on the Vistula River, which is why we asked them to look over Kosmopedia and recommend it to cosmetics users."
Chmurzyńska-Brown continued, "The patronage of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection for Kosmopedia is not only an honor. It is also a sign that state institutions understand the difficult situation which users of fast-moving consumer goods, including cosmetics, are currently facing. Our priority is that the app, which will be released soon, helps consumers make informed choices. It will be the first tool in Poland to identify ingredients, not to evaluate products. Integrated with kosmopedia.org, it will have enormous educational potential and most importantly, it will sell nothing but knowledge."
