Naomi Watts has bought back her menopausal beauty brand Stripes in Amyris' bankruptcy auction for $500,000.

WHO: Launched in 2022, Stripes was created by actress Naomi Watts with the support of biotech company Amyris to normalize conversations about menopause. The brand launched with 11 products ranging from $45 to $85, including a face mist, scalp serum, and hydrating vaginal gel. Almost all products are formulated with ectoine, a bacteria-derived compound that is said to protect cellular function and combat dry skin, a prominent side effect of hormonal change. Stripes’ products also include vitamins, edelweiss extract, and magnesium, which is linked to body temperature regulation—an ongoing issue for those experiencing menopause. The brand launched with Onda Beauty, Amazon, and iamstripes.com.

WHY: Amyris filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August. The Stripes brand was auctioned off as part of the Amyris bankruptcy proceedings.
