Skyn Iceland

WHO: Skyn Iceland was founded by industry veteran Sarah Kugelman in 2003 to address the depleting and damaging effects of stress on skin using pure and potent natural ingredients from Iceland.

WHY: With its funding, the first step for the brand will be to bring in a senior-level marketing manager to oversee these digital-centric strategies. In addition, it will hire the brand’s first chief financial officer. The rest of the funding will be used for stockpiling inventory for its new markets and increasing its investment in digital marketing.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “Stress and stress management has really exploded over the last five to 10 years since I started the brand. Now everyone is feeling overtaxed, over scheduled and overstressed,” founder Sarah Kugelman told Glossy. “Now is the time [for Skyn Iceland] to grow.”

DETAILS:

  • Skyn Iceland receives $3 million in angel funding.
  • The 16-year-old skincare brand is hoping to increase sales by 37% in 2019.
  • In 2018, the brand saw $18 million in global retail sales, which was a 25% increase.
