Syoung Group to Buy Evidens de Beauté in $50 Million Deal

Shares of Chinese facial mask giant Syoung rose 20 percent following the news that the group would acquire 90 percent of Evidens de Beauté for $50 million.

WHO: Founded in 2007 by Charles-Edouard Barthes, Evidens de Beauté began as a celebration of his Japanese wife Eriko Nakamura's skincare routine, combined with a touch of French elegance. The brand has a freestanding store on Rue Boissière in the 16th arrondissement in Paris and is available in 450 points of sale including spas in 14 countries.

In addition to being one of the most successful facial mask brands in China, Syoung Group is also the online distributor for beauty brands including Johnson & Johnson China, Fenty Beauty, Dr. Ci:Labo, Albion, Neutrogena, Kiko, and Lumene.

They have been the exclusive China distributor for Evidens de Beauté since the French brand entered the market.

DETAILS:

  • Syoung Group has signed an agreement with major shareholders of Evidens de Beauté to purchase a little over 90 percent of the Paris-based company.
  • Following the deal, Evidens de Beauté founder Charles-Edouard Barthes will remain a shareholder, and the company will retain its independence and current team.
  • In 2021, Evidens de Beauté made a net profit of €5.2 million on revenue of €19.7 million. In the first five months of this year, the trend was a profit of €1.8 million, with €8.3 million of sales.
