From a single cult product that launched in 2016, Theragun, a brand with roots in fitness that has taken Instagram by storm, is rebranding as a wellness brand called Therabody. The pioneer of handheld percussive therapy devices made the jump from recovery for elite athletes post-workout to the wellness set, now being used by anyone who can afford the hefty price tag.

“We’ve been able to get into non-fitness retailers like Revolve, Bandier, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom,” CEO Ben Nazarian explained to Fashionista. “It’s unique in that I don’t think there’s many products that [are sold] in Best Buy, Dick’s, Nordstrom and Goop.”

Necessity became the mother of invention for licensed chiropractor Dr. Jason Wersland, who invented the Theragun in 2007 to deal with muscle and nerve pain after a traumatic motorcycle accident. The device got traction with the professional athletes Wersland treats, but the company says today more than 50% of people use it for non-fitness-related pain.

“With the launch of TheraOne and our 4th generation of percussive massage therapy devices, it was a natural progression for us to evolve into this next chapter of becoming Therabody,” said Dr. Wersland.

The rebranding from Theragun to Therabody represents the business’s singular mission to provide effective and natural whole-body wellness solutions to help people feel better and do more of what moves them.

Theragun’s 4th-generation percussive massage devices feature the introduction of the brand’s first proprietary motor using QuietForce Technology and Smart Percussive Therapy, which seamlessly integrates with the updated Therabody app. The range includes the Theragun PRO, Theragun Elite, Theragun Prime, Theragun mini, and Wave Roller.

To supplement its percussion therapy, the company has introduced TheraOne, natural wellness solutions with a range of topical and ingestible farm-to-body CBD products derived from a high-potency hemp strain with patent-pending Biosorb Technology. With more than two years of research and development prior to its launch, the TheraOne portfolio will include five proprietary CBD products that are all-natural and toxin-free.

“I’m thrilled with this milestone of launching Therabody and how it enables us to help more people. We are just getting started as we continue to develop products backed by science that can further help people feel better, naturally,” Dr.Wersland.

To date, Therabody has two divisions—Theragun and TheraOne—but has plans to develop and expand into additional sectors in the future.
