Beauty founders and entrepreneurs across skincare, haircare, and wellness categories gathered to present their businesses and future visions at the latest GlossWire Beauty Brand Founder Pitch Competition before a panel of judges, earlier this month.
Hosted virtually by GlossWire, the competition highlighted a growing focus on functionality, innovation, and brand storytelling within the industry. Each participating brand was evaluated on market potential, brand vision, innovation, and presentation quality.
Taking home first place and the competition’s $10,000 prize was Tracie Martyn Beauty and Wellness, the luxury clean beauty brand founded by celebrity facialist Tracie Martyn and co-founder Marius Morariu.
Known for combining holistic wellness with clinical skincare technologies, the brand has spent the last two decades building a reputation through celebrity clientele and treatment-focused skincare. Built on clean formulations and long-term skin health, the brand’s approach to advanced science and environmental consciousness has played a large role in its ethos.
“Winning first place is an incredible validation of the vision behind Tracie Martyn Beauty and Wellness and the work we’ve put into building a brand that pioneered the fusion of clean, clinical beauty rooted in wellness, longevity, and ancient wisdom,” Morariu told BeautyMatter.
According to Morariu, the recognition reflects growing consumer demand for beauty brands that prioritize integrity, efficacy, and overall well-being over trend-driven products or quick fixes. He also noted that the company is preparing to enter its first investment round after being independently funded since its launch.
“This next chapter is about thoughtfully layering modern growth infrastructure and aligned investor capital onto a brand that has already demonstrated longevity and demand without financial backing,” Morariu told BeautyMatter, in relation to creating the opportunity to scale. He also noted that brand story and loyalty are two of Tracie Martyn Beauty and Wellness’ key strengths, highlighting “the growing relevance of merging holistic beauty with cutting-edge dermatological and biohacking science in today’s ‘want-it-all’ consumer market.”
GlossWire awarded second place and a $5,000 prize to MJ Lee, founder of TimeSavvy, for the brand’s multitasking-focused approach to skincare. Third place was awarded to Susana Chen and Jess Wu, co-founders of Never Have I Ever, which reimagines press-on nails through collaborations with independent artists and cultural brands.
Additional finalists included Dr. Watson’s Haircare, Go Beauty, Sonela Beauty, and Stamina Cosmetics.
All finalists will also receive a one-on-one meeting with investors and judges from The Wires, the multi-vertical B2B2C technology company connecting brands with consumers across fashion and beauty, to provide mentorship, strategic guidance, and networking opportunities aimed at supporting brand growth.
“We created this competition to spotlight the incredible innovation emerging from independent beauty and wellness founders within the GlossWire community,” said Kimberly Carney, founder and CEO of GlossWire, in a statement. “Each finalist brought a unique vision, authentic storytelling, and a deep passion for creating products that truly connect with today’s consumer.”
Meanwhile, Judge Susanah Zeffiro of BeReal attested that the competition allowed brands to gain greater visibility and mentorship opportunities. “As a judge, it was incredibly exciting to see such a strong group of founders bringing fresh ideas and authentic innovation to the beauty and wellness space,” Zeffiro said in a statement.
For founders like Morariu, the competition signals the value industry leaders place on authenticity and transparency.
“It’s especially meaningful because it acknowledges not just the products themselves, but the broader mission of helping people look and feel their best in a healthy, balanced, and sustainable way,” he told BeautyMatter.
