Vendis Capital invested in Skins Cosmetics, a Dutch omnichannel retailer and distributor in the luxury niche cosmetics market.

WHO: Headquartered in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, Skins Cosmetics was co-founded in 2000 by Philip Hillege and Michiel Poelmans, who pioneered the emerging market of luxury niche beauty. Today, Skins offers a curated assortment of 150 luxury niche brands. The company operates 20 owned and franchised stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, and South Africa, complemented by an online shop.

Founded in 2009, Vendis Capital is an independent private equity firm specializing in the consumer goods sector in Europe. In partnership with experienced entrepreneurs and managers, Vendis aims to invest in small- to medium-sized consumer companies to help them realize their growth and value-creation potential. Vendis invests in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and  the Scandinavian countries.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Philip Hillege, co-founder and current Creative Director, shared, “We believe in the qualities Vendis Capital will add to Skins’ development, supported by its familiarity with the consumer luxury brands industry and its experience in successfully rolling out retail concepts. Vendis Capital brings a reputation of adding value in companies’ organizations, and we look forward to a successful partnership. The entry of Vendis into the capital of the company also marks the departure of the five early-stage investors that have supported us in the previous phase. I want to express my gratitude to all of them.”

Vendis Capital partner Vincent Braams said, “Skins Cosmetics fits Vendis’ investment criteria very well; it presents a successful omni-channel retail brand offering a premium selection of niche luxury products through a strong go-to market platform, well positioned for further growth. We are excited about partnering up with Skins and are confident to grasp the available growth potential together.”
