Collaborations have become a dime a dozen, but not all collabs are created equal. AmorePacific has teamed up with Virgil Abloh’s Italian fashion brand Off-White to launch the “Protection Box.” Off-White is known for its collaborations, but the AmorePacific partnership marks the first in the beauty category. Could the hot fashion brand be testing the waters for a category expansion?

The limited-edition “Protection Box” targets specific skin concerns related to wearing masks during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and includes AmorePacific beauty items (sheet mask, tone-up cushion, lip balm) and Off-White fashion items (fashion mask, mask strap, protection container).

The “Play Kit” is Off-White’s interpretation of a traditional Korean game called Yunnori, which will be available at events celebrating the collaboration held at stores.

The initial rollout for the collaboration will happen in Japan, Korea, and China. The “Protection Box” will be launched in a limited quantity:

  • February 1, 10 am KST (January 31, 8 pm EST) via a raffle on Amorepacific’s official online shopping mall, AP Mall.
  • February 8 Naver Shopping will release the product.
  • February 10 AmorePacific’s Seongsu and Gwanggyo store locations will release the collab.
  • A wider release in Japan and China will happen in March.
