NATURA OPEN SOURCES GLOBAL ZERO-WASTE SOLUTIONS

Cleaning up the beauty business is going to take the entire industry working together towards a common goal of innovating new solutions to tackle plastic pollution and reduce waste. As an industry, we need to evolve the current model from single-use plastic to solutions aimed at zero waste that generate a positive impact on the world.

No one entity has all the answers. Change requires tapping into collective potential. It is in this spirit that Natura launched its Natura Innovation Challenge – Zero Waste Packaging last November. The initiative was aimed at finding innovative global solutions to combat plastic waste generation and pollution.

Projects were presented in a global innovation challenge posed by the cosmetics brand to combat plastic waste generation and pollution. There were more than 570 applications from 35 countries.

Three solutions from the challenge are already being tested by the company, but Natura believes in entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation for positive impact. They have open-sourced the projects and encourage reaching out. See the Natura report on the 38 solutions presented in the Innovation Challenge.

Evolving the “single use of plastic” models to “zero waste” alternatives is everyone’s responsibility.
