THE MOTHER OF ALL BEAUTY COLLABS: PAT MCGRATH X SUPREME

Beauty collaborations have become ubiquitous. but here’s one worthy of attention. Two brands that are masters of “the drop” have joined forces, creating the mother of all beauty collaborations.

From Oreos to lawn chairs, there doesn’t appear to be anything Supreme won’t put its logo on, but this is the first cosmetic collaboration in its 26-year history. The cult skate brand’s eclectic assortment of collaborations have become coveted drops, fueling a small NYC skateboard shop’s transformation to a $1 billion global phenomenon.

Details about the collaboration have been kept tightly under wraps, but images and video shared by Pat McGrath Labs revealed packaging that perfectly merges both labels. The lipstick will come in one shade of Supreme bright red and will be formulated in Pat McGrath Labs’ Matte Trance formula.

There is no word yet on when the lipstick will be released or how much it will cost. The first drop from Supreme’s Fall/Winter 2020 accessories collection releases in weekly drops starting August 20 at Supreme stores globally, and hits the Supreme website starting August 24.

While Pat McGrath may be the first cosmetic collaboration, Supreme has collaborated in the broader beauty category with candles, incense, hair clippers, and toothpaste.

2020 Supreme x Colgate: Also part of the Fall/Winter 2020 accessories drop but lost in all the Pat McGrath hype.

2017 Supreme x Andis Hair Clippers: The classic Original Envy Adjustable hair clippers are a staple in the hair community as a foundational tool for any barber. Los Angeles-based artist Oliver Payne made a trippy video to accompany the drop. Originally retailed at $98, the clippers are currently trading on StockX for $366-$414 and eBay for $800.

2013 Supreme x Kumba “Virgin Mary” Candle: With a Virgin Mary design on one side and the iconic Supreme logo on the other, the glass is filled with Shizucal Wax and a custom scent with notes of citrus, basil, lemon, vanilla, sandalwood, and frankincense. Retailed at launch for $48 with a real price of $650.

2009 Supreme x Kuumba Incense Holder & Incense Sticks: Japanese lifestyle brand Kuumba International produces traditionally made premium quality incense through a modern lens. The Supreme set of incense sticks and ski logo tray are all packed neatly in a cylindrical box, resale price $450 (with half the incense missing).

2002 Supreme x Nag Champa Incense Holder & Sticks: One of the rarest of all Supreme accessories, the incense came packaged in a custom box featuring illustrations of tantric sex.
