Key Takeaways:

  • Global surgery procedure volume dipped slightly in 2024, but demand remains strong—especially for nonsurgical and age-specific treatments.
  • The US leads in injectables, Brazil in body surgeries; Asia performs the most total procedures globally.
  • Skin-tightening and eyelid surgery surged, signaling a shift toward visible results with minimal downtime.

Every year, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)—the leading global organization for board-certified plastic surgeons—releases its definitive snapshot of the state of aesthetic medicine. The ISAPS Global Survey is widely recognized as an industry benchmark, compiling data from more than 2,900 plastic surgeons across 117 countries. The newly released 2025 report, based on procedures performed the year prior, reveals a shifting aesthetic landscape: while total procedure volume dipped slightly for the first time in years, consumer demand remains strong—especially for noninvasive solutions and age-specific enhancements.

At the same time, cultural attitudes toward surgery are becoming more open, with public figures like Kris Jenner normalizing transparency around cosmetic work. The celebrity’s latest facelift sparked a wave of social media curiosity, with fans asking outright for her surgeon’s name and praising her choice. From global procedure rankings to medical tourism hotspots, BeautyMatter breaks down the numbers shaping the future of the aesthetic industry.

Together, these countries represent not only volume but also strategic diversity, balancing injectables, facial surgery, and body contouring.

With over 58,000 practicing surgeons worldwide, the industry remains robustly global, though US surgeons still perform the largest share; on average 649 procedures per doctor.

  • 26-35: Liposuction
  • 36-45: Liposuction

Liposuction dominates the 26-45 age bracket, aligning with body-contouring ideals during peak professional and family-building years. As patients age, eyelid surgery becomes a clear favorite, surpassing other procedures in the 46-60 and 60+ age categories, as consumers seek subtler rejuvenation tactics.
