In a world where access to information can feel endless, online reviews have changed how we shop, dine, and make important spending decisions. The community-driven platform is a trusted source that provides unique insight into consumers' behavior.

With 2024 around the corner, Yelp released its latest Trend Forecast Report, which reveals what people will be looking for in the new year, from the cocktails we’ll be sipping, the ways we'll be glamming it up, or how we’ll reimagine our living spaces.

To highlight what’s next, Yelp tapped its team of data scientists, community managers, and trend expert Tara Lewis, looking at millions of Yelp reviews for words, phrases, and businesses across categories that saw significant interest between 2022 and 2023.

Wax On: Waxing Jumps 700% and Return of the 90s Skinny Brow
While a range of hair removal processes have developed over the decades, waxing is back in the spotlight. Searches for “waxing services” surged nearly 700%. This increase could be tied to brow maintenance and styling becoming a focal point of social feeds and red carpets, with the skinny brow making a resurgence.

Wegovy Surged 870% and Traptox Was up 548%
Noninvasive cosmetic procedures are becoming more common, as advancements in health make what were once intensive procedures quick and simple. One of the biggest trends is Traptox, up 548%, a noninvasive procedure that uses Botox to slim down the trapezius muscles at the back of the neck and shoulders.

Wegovy, a prescription medication that helps people lose weight is expected to continue going strong. Searches for Wegovy surged 870% (along with similar weight loss brands like Ozempic) aren't going anywhere as people look for new and effective ways to maintain their weight.

Cold Plunge Therapy Searches Jump 521%
Gyms, spas, and physical therapy centers everywhere on Yelp are hopping on the recovery trend as active folks look for ways to maintain performance while improving their body’s resilience. Searches for cold plunge therapy increased 521% as people sought the surprising health benefits including improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and increased energy levels.

Infrared Therapy up 40%
Another form of therapy on the rise is infrared sauna therapy, which jumped 40%. Infrared sauna therapy uses infrared light on the body, and is known to increase energy levels, help with recovery from hard workouts, and improve skin health.

IV Therapy Rose 28%
IV therapy searches on Yelp rose 28%, as athletes, professionals, and others sought fast-acting benefits, such as hydration and immune system support. While these are primarily used by those who stay active, the secret’s out that IV therapy works wonders as a recovery method following a big night out at the bar.

Stretching and Pilates Classes Top Yoga
While yoga and Pilates classes stay popular among those seeking group fitness, low-impact fitness classes are making big moves for 2024. Searches for stretching and flexibility training spiked more than 35% (compared to searches for yoga, which hit 10%), as people look for low-impact workouts that improve flexibility, reduce pain, and increase range of motion. Also, in the low-impact space is the search for celeb-loved Reformer Pilates, which is up 71% year over year, as well as the resurgence of retro favorites like step aerobics, which is up 54%.

Vinyl, Audio Bars, and Immersive Listening Experiences
Music fans across generations are shopping at local record stores to buy pre-loved vintage editions, and newer albums from Taylor Swift and Beyonce—but music lovers are also seeking more immersive and shared experiences for their music fix. In fact, searches for listening bars, like Equipment Room in Austin, are up 306% in the past year.
