Collaborations and limited-edition ranges often give brands the opportunity to share their creative juices and design more playful products. This has been seen throughout the quarter, whether it be Clinique x Kate Spade's cute and kitschy lip gloss, Chanel’s nail stickers, or Snif x L’Appartement 4F’s croissant-inspired scent offering. Innovation marked the sector's category selections, with MAC reinventing the typical lip balm with their 10-shade collection of Squirt Plumping Gloss Sticks and Guerlain entering the haircare category with a unique patented hair brush.
Each week, the BeautyMatter editorial team tracks the best beauty limited editions, collaborations, and collections to hit the market. Here are the best of the best from last quarter.
Guerlain: Already having conquered fragrance and beauty, Guerlain has made its first foray into haircare with the Abeille Royale Scalp & Hair Care Collection. The collection includes Repairing and Replumping Care Conditioner ($82), and Double R Radiance & Repair Mask ($93). The Hair Care Brush ($169) is an exclusive collaboration with Japanese haircare expert S-Heart-S. Inspired by Japanese shiatsu techniques, its unique patented ergonomic design has 376 massaging head fibers and two different lengths and thicknesses stimulating microcirculation to contribute to the vitality of the hair.
MAC: This collection from MAC Cosmetics is a 10-shade line of Squirt Plumping Gloss Sticks ($24) formulated with ginger root, capsicum, and menthol crystals. The gloss is available in sheer shades of nudes and brights including: Jet (sheer black), Nova (sheer light blue), Amped (sheer hot pink), Like Squirt (sheer lime green), and Hazard (sheer yellowy orange).
Body Proud: Building on the success of The Proud brand, which launched Skin Proud in 2021 followed by Hair Proud in February 2023, Body Brand has entered the booming body care category. The Body Proud collection consists of four ranges—Recharge, Brighten, Hydrate, and Proud to Care—focusing on common skin concerns with formulas that leverage skincare actives. The collection launched exclusively with Walmart in-store and online, with products all priced under $12.
Clinique x Kate Spade: Fashion meets beauty as these two brands team up for a limited-edition New York Pop Plush Creamy Lip Gloss in four shades: Air Kiss (soft pink hue), Rosewater (shimmer coral), Juicy Apple (vibrant red), and Black Honey (deep berry in a sheer wash). The lip gloss lids feature playful patterns such as stripes, polka dots, lips, and flowers in bright pinks, reds, and turquoise. The collaboration will roll out to 27 countries and will be initially sold exclusively at Clinique.
Chanel Beauty: The fashion house dropped perhaps the chicest nail stickers to hit the market. Leaning into the nail art craze, the French designer released a covetable limited-edition nail kit focused on iconic classics. Le Vernis ($105) consists of two classic nail shades—a rich red and bright white, as well as a gel coat polish—and the star of the show are the sheets of 90 black-and-white nail decals that feature house design codes such as three versions of the iconic double-Cs, the signature camellia motif, and the number five, Coco Chanel’s lucky number. Sold out but available on the secondary market priced as high as $250.
Shiseido x World Surf League: Since establishing the Shiseido Blue Project in 2019, the brand has made a global effort to promote the protection of the ocean. Shiseido and the World Surf League (WSL) have collaborated on a series of initiatives, and the latest is two limited-edition products. Shiseido x WSL Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion SPF 50+ ($50) and Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+ ($30) both harness the power of patented SynchroShield technology, which increases the UV protection of SPF products as the wearer sweats or gets wet due to negative ions in the formula combining with positive ions from water and precipitation.
Snif x L’Appartement 4F: Inspired by the smell of hot, buttered croissants, Snif has created the scent Crumb Couture ($65), which carries notes of sweet berry jam accord, jasmine, sandalwood, Orcanox (natural compound extracted from exhausted clary sage), croissant accord blended with tonka bean, and buttery musks. The Body Butter Bar Lotion ($18) features the same scent formula as Crumb Couture and is designed to resemble a stick of butter. To celebrate the new release, Snif teamed up with Brooklyn bakery L’Appartement 4F to create a special pastry and coffee drink inspired by the fragrance.
Scent Theory x Crayola: Teaming up, the two brands wanted to explore the association of scent and color through a rainbow-hued line of foaming hand soaps ($3.13 each). The collaboration is made up of seven soaps: Cherry Red (top notes of cherry and base notes of tonka bean), Sunset Orange (top notes of orange and base notes of vanilla), Laser Lemon (a lemonade scent), Caribbean Green (a mix of palm leaf and beach wood), Cerulean Blue (an ocean scent), Purple Heart (top notes of plum and base notes of candied violets), and Carnation Pink (top notes of fresh flowers and berries).
